Illustration Friday: Under the Sea
Did you know that sea stars have light sensors on the tips of their arms?
Have you ever watched a sea star somersault?
Have you ever felt one cling to your hand?

Terrific colors and added "texture." Nature is SO amazing... I didn't know about the light sensors, but it doesn't really surprise me. I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

This is a really lovely effect - not sure about letting one cling to my hand!

Agreed; beautiful texture... watercolor and photoshop?

Thank you! I don't have photoshop, but when I was using iPhoto, I discovered this new editing window (I just got a new laptop, I guess it's part of the software). I wanted to increase depth, so I pushed the "edge blur" button. Too cool! It turned the image into a little diorama, really shoving the star a couple of centimeters back. Normally I don't edit my artwork on the computer, but I just couldn't resist, this time :)

I was going to say--how in the world did you get that depth? This is so lovely! And yes--to all three questions. I grew up on the pacific coast! :)
